Personal Information:
Stephen F. Logee was born about Aug 18401. He was the son of Stephen and Arena (Parker) Logee. His mother Aurena was only about 13 years old when he was born. Stephen was only 6 years old when his father died on 13 Aug 18462. His young mother soon remarried on 15 Apr 1847 to Edmond Day in Worcester3. In 1850 Stephen was living with his step father and mother in Sutton. He had a new half sister, Emma Frances Day4. Two years later his second half sister, Mary Arena Day, was born in Sutton5.
The combination of the death of his grandfather, Cyrus Logee in 1853, and the failing health of his mother, Arena, probably led to the guardianship action in Worcester, Massachusetts. On 5 Sep 1854, John McClellan was appointed as the guardian of the 14 year old Stephen Logee6. Arena's health declined and on 14 May 1855 she died of consumption in Sutton7. Her burial location has not been found.
On 12 Sep 1861 Stephen married Sarah Waldo Brigham in Worcester, Massachusetts8. Sarah was born 14 Feb 1837 the daughter of William A. and Martha G. Brigham. It was not long before he joined the Union Army to fight in the Civil War. He was mustered in 27 Aug 1862 into the 36th Regt of Mass Volunteers Company C. and later transferred to the reserve Corps Co. 39. He was wounded in the knee at the Battle of Spottsylvania Court House on 12 May 1864. He never fully recovered. He became feeble and finally died of Consumption at Elmira, New York on 6 Mar 1868. Stephen F. Logee is listed as buried in the Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, New York8.
On 24 Aug 1871, Sarah married 2nd Edward Bowden, who was also a Civil War Veteran. She did not have any children by this husband. Following this husband's death, she applied for and was granted a pension. Sarah died on 15 Jun 1925. Her address at the time of her death was 43 Dungeon, West Lynn, Massachusetts.
