Personal Information:
Stephen Logee's birth was recorded in Glocester, Rhode Island1. His birthdate was given as 17 Feb 1804 and his parents listed as Cyrus Logee and Hannah Fairfield. In 1806 Burrillville was created out of the northern part of Glocester. From this point forward most Logee records would be found in Burrillville. On 7 Apr 1840 a Note was recorded in Burrillville indicating the settlement of a court case resulting in Stephen Logee receiving $800 from Cyrus Logee2. No other detail was given in this record. This was followed on 27 May 1840 where Cyrus sold 112 acres to Stephen's brother, Duty Logee, for $300, partially described as "a Certain Farm lying in the North Westerly part of Burrillville formerly owned by Caleb Logee.3"
This transaction coincided with his marriage. On 16 Apr 1840 Stephen Logee married Aurena Parker in Douglas, Massachusetts. Aurena/Arena was the daughter of James and Adie Parker4. She was born about the year 1827 in Douglas and was exceptionally young at the time of her marriage5. She was married about 6 months before their son, Stephen F. Logee, was born. This marriage only lasted six years. On 13 Aug 1846, Stephen Logee died6. He was buried in the Cyrus Logee family cemetery on Rock Ave.
On 15 Apr 1847, Irena Parker Logee married Edmund Day at Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts7. In 1850 she was living with her husband in Sutton with their new daughter Emma Frances Day and her son, Stephen Logee. Two years later her second daughter Mary Arena Day was born in Sutton8.
The combination of the death of Cyrus Logee in 1853 and the failing health of Arena, probably led to the guardianship action in Worcester, Massachusetts. On 5 Sep 1854, John McClellan was appointed as the guardian of the 14 year old son, Stephen Logee9. Arena's health declined and on 14 May 1855 she died of consumption in Sutton10. Her burial location has not been located.
Edmund/Edmond Day remained in Sutton at least through 1870. In that census both Emma and Mary Day were still unmarried and living in his household11.
