Personal Information:

Sewell James Logee was born 22 May 1829 in Douglas, Worcester County, Massachusetts2. He was the son of Joseph H. and Prudence (Paine) Logee. The date that he left New England has not been determined but he was residing in Warsaw City, Benton County, Missouri with his wife Louisa in 18603. At that time his occupation was listed as Keeping a livery stable. Louisa's birth place was listed as New York.

Louise "Louisa" Hawkins was born about 1838 (possibly 12 Feb 1838 in New York4. She was the daughter of Louisa (unknown) Hawkins5. A possible marriage date of 15 Oct 1859 for Sewell Logee and Louis Hawkins was posted on the Ancestry.com web site which was consistent with other research (web site source not cited)6. Louisa Logee died probably on 4 Feb 1869 in Vernon County, Missouri7. She was buried in Moore Cemetery, Center township, Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri.

In 1870 Sewell J. Logee was residing alone in Center twp., Vernon County, Missouri8. Before Louisa died, she had given birth to at least 3 children. In 1880 these 3 children were listed as residing with their grandmother Louisa Hawkins in Brooklyn, New York. The youngest child, Minnie, was 12 years old. This would place Louise's death between 1868 and 1870.

On 6 Aug 1877 Sewell married Laura Warren in Newton Co., Indiana. No other information was found regarding this wife9. On 21 Dec 1892 Sewell had returned to Vernon Co., Missouri. There he married Joannah Clendening10. Joannah was born 6 Jun 1857 in Edgar County, Indiana11;12. She was the daughter of John Clendening and came to Bourbon County when only 3 years old. She had been married 1st to Hosea Shaw on 7 Aug 1874.

Sewell Logee died on 16 Dec 189813. His residence was listed in the cemetery records as Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. He was buried in West Liberty Cemetery, Bourbon County, Kansas. Joannah survived for many more years and made her home in Bourbon County. In 1920 she was residing with Rachel Stearns (per Joannah Logee obituary actually Rachel Stevens) age 63, born Indiana, and a widow. "Johanna" was age 62, born Illinois and also a widow14. Joannah died on 12 Aug 1938 in Bourbon County, Kansas15. She was buried in West Liberty Cemetery in that County.
