Personal Information:

Sylvannus Logee was born 1 Apr 1829 in Douglas, Worcester Co., Massachusetts (listed as Silvanus in birth record)2. He was the son of Daniel Logee and Mary Holbrook. Like some of his siblings, he migrated to Ohio in the 1840s. By 1850 he was in Vermilion Co., Illinois where he married Elizabeth Hunley on 9 Jul 18503. Elizabeth's maiden name has not fully established, as one of her children's death records (Charles Logee) indicated her maiden name as Ferguson.

The family soon moved to Missouri where their first two children were born. Sylvannus was a carpenter4. This was a profession followed by his father and many other Logee family members. By 1870 he had moved to the City of Springfield in Sangamon County, Illinois.

Sylvannus has not been found in records after 1870. Sylvannus died on 3 May 1875 probably in Edgar County, Illinois. He was buried in Embarras Cemetery, Embarras, Edgar County, Illinois. His tombstone was transcribed as S.A. Logee d. 3 May 1875 aged 46y 1m 6d. On 1 Jan 1876, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Logee married Henry Luce in Edgar County, Illinois6. Edgar County is directly south of Vermilion County, Illinois where Sylvannus and Elizabeth had been married in 1850. Edgar County was also the where Syvannus' sister Rachel (Logee) Sherman and her family were residing at the time of his death.
