Personal Information:

Abigail M. Logee was born about Jan 1840 in Thompson, Connecticut1. She was the daughter of Darling and Laura Ann (Sherman) Logee. On 9 Jun 1858 she was married to Hudson Hilton in Thompson by Edward Aldrich, Justice of the Peace2. Hudson Hilton was born about 27 Feb 1830 in Ashburnham, Massachusetts3. He was probably the son of Daniel Hilton and Julia Sawtelle.

Hudson and Abigail appear to have lived their lives in the Thompson area very near Darling Logee after their marriage. In the 1860 Census they were listed in the Darling Logee household and in 1870 were living next door to Darling Logee4:5. In 1880 they continued to be listed in Thompson and for the third census Hudson listed his occupation as farmer6.

Hudson and Abigail had three children and only one child would grow to adulthood. Their daughter Emma has only a death date on her tombstone and did not appear in any census. This indicates that she probably died as an infant. Their son Herbert died in a tragic accident7. He was only 12 years old and the family was living in Buck Hill, Thompson, Conn. He was in the woods with his friend, Elmer Joslin. The boys were hunting and were sitting down to rest. When they began to leave, Herbert told Elmer to un-cock his gun. As Elmer obeyed the one barrel of the gun went off and shot Herbert in the bowels. Elmer ran and got Herbert's father and they brought him home where he died in a few hours.

Six years later, Hudson Hilton followed his two children in death. His cause of death was listed as cirrhosis and hepatitis. Hudson's occupation was listed as Hotel Keeper in his death record. His son Dennis Hilton appears to have remained at home following his father's death. In 1900 Dennis was in Thompson with his mother in the same household8. Dennis listed his occupation as Tin Smith. On 7 May 1905 Abigail passed away. It was probably after her death that Dennis made the short move over to Burrillville9. In Rhode Island on 12 Sep 1912, Dennis followed the rest of his family in death. The Hilton family were all buried together with the Darling Logee family and shared the same large monument in the New East Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, Connecticut.
