Personal Information:
Ruth Logee was born in Rhode Island in the year 18241. She was the daughter of Elisha and Jerusha (Kimball) Logee. On 29 May 1842 she was married to Sullivan Daggett, "of Gloucester", by the Pastor Daniel Dow in Thompson, Connecticut2.
They made their home in Glocester, Rhode Island. The 1850 census listed 3 children and an 18 year old girl in their household3. The girl, Elisabeth M. Chilson, was almost certainly the daughter of Alvina (Logee) Chilson, deceased sister of Ruth (Logee) Daggett. Listed on the prior page in that same census was the household of Daniel and Osile Daggett, both age 66yrs. Daniel and Osile Daggett have been listed in some web sites as the parents of Sullivan Daggett.
On 23 Apr 1871 a case of abuse to Ruth Daggett was filed in State Criminal Court against Henry Daggett4. Since the abuser was not Ruth's husband or child, it can not be certain if the Ruth Daggett in that case was Ruth (Logee) Daggett.
Sullivan and Ruth remained in Glocester throughout Sullivan's life. The 1880 census included in Sullivan Daggett's household his son Albert S. aged 36 and a grandson, William E. Oatley5. On 5 Feb 1886 Sullivan died suddenly6. He was drawing wood when he fell from the load about a quarter mile from his home. The person working with him did not notice that he had fallen and continued to the house. Sullivan crawled to his home where he survived just a few hours. His obituary listed his wife, one son and one daughter as survivors. If the article was correct, his daughters Elizabeth and Lillis preceded him in death. His funeral was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Rogers, a Baptist Minister.
Ruth followed in death on 4 Jun 1899 in Chepachet7. The death record listed a Nancy Daggett as a relative of Ruth. Her son Albert was listed as administrator of the estate8. The inventory was prepared by Ellen Oatley, Mary E. Pidge and Ferry Pidge. From that record it is probable that either Ruth's daughter Elizabeth or Lillis married a man with the surname of Pidge. Both Sullivan and Ruth Daggett were buried in Chepachet Cemetery.
