Personal Information:

William David Logee was born 16 Aug 1870 at Providence, Rhode Island1. He was the son of William Kimball Logee and Emily Mason. When he was only 5 years old, his mother passed away from consumption2. He and his father returned to Killingly and remained in that area for about ten years3. During this time, his father married Susan E. Mahrs and William David Logee developed a love of horticulture at the Mahrs greenhouses, which were owned by Susan's parents. As he neared adulthood, he followed his passion for horticulture and apprenticed at the J. J. Montgomery Rose Conservatories in Boston, Massachusetts.

He appears to have joined his father in Providence around 18904. In that year, he was listed with his father at 71 Cranston, Providence and his profession was gardener. In 1891, his father had a 100 ft greenhouse constructed on the old Mahrs' property in Killingly. On 24 Nov 1894 he married Ida Criscilla James5. Ida was born 20 Oct 1872 and was the daughter of Charles Dudley James and Maria Hammett. Prior to their marriage, she had lived across the street from the Logee greenhouse.

Ida became an educator and taught school in the Pomfret area. William continued to develop his business. William and Ida had a large family. Ida passed away on 14 Feb 1925 at Boston, Massachusetts6. William and his children worked and developed a very successful business. William died 16 Jun 1952 at his home near the greenhouse7. His funeral was officiated by Rev. Oliver H. Cowles. He was buried in Westfield Cemetery in Danielson.
