Zenas Logee was born 2 May 1824 in Burrillville, Rhode1. He was the son of Washington and Lucy (Thayer) Logee. His early life was spent on his father's farm2;3. He remained in the Burrillville area throughout his life.

When his father, Washington Logee, died in 1866, Zenas was left with almost the entire estate4. Between 1860 and 1870 he married Lydia Baker, daughter of Bradford and Ruth (Thayer) Baker5. Lydia was born in Douglas, Massachusetts on 10 Sep 18135. On 14 Feb 1870 Lydia died at Burrillville6. Her age was listed as 59y 5m 4d. No children were born to this couple.

Her parents were William and Amy Ann (Congdon) Hastings (see Hastings Family Bible information in Sources). At age 37 she entered the marriage with 4 children from her prior marriages.
