William Rufus DANFORTH was born 25 Jul 18051 in New York2. He married Catherine (MELLINGER) CAMPBELL, widow of Bake CAMPBELL on 10 Aug 1845 in Fountain Co., Ind. by Simon Brown, Minister of the Gospel3. The 1850 Census listed a Nelson age 10 and a Isabell age 7 in the William Danforth household. It is probable that William was a widower with these two children when he married Catherine. William and Catherine had four children of their own. William died 5 Jan 1861 or 18694.

Catherine lived the rest of her life in the same area with her daughter Frances Catherine (DANFORTH) NINE. Catherine died on 16 Aug 1902 in Fountain Co.5. She was buried next to her two husbands and her son, Abraham.
